BAIL BOND FAQ

Why don't I get my premium back?

Thbond company posts a bond for the full amount of your loved one's bail. They are responsible for the defendant going to court. Bail premium is kept by the bonding agency for performing this service.

When do I get my collateral back?

Upon completion of the defendant's court case, and the bond being discharged by the court. A copy of the discharge must be provided to the surety company by either the defendant, or any of the co-signers.

What happens if a person misses their court date? What should I do?

The first thing you should do is contact the team at Chambers Bail Bonds. When you let us know the details, we will immediately call the court and explain the situation and inquire if a new court date can be set for the defendant.  However, in most cases, procedurally, what happens is very simple. The court issues a bench warrant for the defendant's arrest because he/she failed to appear. A failure to appear (FTA) notice is sent then sent to Chambers Bail Bonds, and the case will be assigned to our in-house Bail Enforcement Agent (BEA). It is very important that you work with the BEA that is assigned to handle your loved one's case.

Remember, that as a co-signer, you are responsible for the defendant's appearance in court. So your cooperation is very important. In the case where the defendant is not apprehended, Chambers  Bail Bonds has to pay the full amount of the bond to the court. At this point, you will be contacted by an Chambers Bail Bonds Agent because YOU will be required to pay for the bond in full if the defendant chooses to become a fugitive from the law.

PROTECT YOUR ASSETS

If you post a bond with Chambers Bail Bonds and the defendant fails to comply with the conditions of release, becomes a flight risk, or decides to flee, you may contact us immediately to have them returned to jail; which will prevent the loss of the bond. Otherwise, you are ultimately responsible for paying the bond in full if the defendant does not appear in court.

THE CONDITIONS OF RELEASE ARE UP TO YOU

If a drug, alcohol, or emotional problem is present, you may request that the defendant accept completion of a treatment program in order to receive bail. As the co-signer, you are ultimately responsible for the defendant and are taking just as much risk as the Chambers Bail Bond Team.
